In a major push to strengthen regional security and ease legitimate commerce, the Acting Customs Area Controller (CAC) for the Ogun I Command, Deputy Comptroller Abdulhamid Ibrahim, has led a high-powered delegation to meet with officials from the Beninese Customs Administration and the Benin Republic Police Force.
The strategic visit reinforces a shared commitment to safe border corridors under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework.

Intelligence Sharing was a key highlight of this crucial engagement, with both nations agreeing on real-time data exchange mechanisms to dismantle arms trafficking, irregular migration, and cross-border smuggling syndicates.
They also agreed to have Joint Patrols as the Security heads mapped out coordinated patrol strategies along vulnerable border routes to safeguard local economies.
Further discussions emphasized streamlining clearance processes, implementing One-Stop Border Posts (OSBP), and advancing technology-driven trade integration.

Speaking during the talks, Deputy Comptroller Ibrahim stressed that cross-border threats require a unified response.
“Criminal elements do not respect artificial boundaries; therefore, our response must be unified, swift, and uncompromising,” Ibrahim stated. “This visit solidifies our shared dedication to safeguarding our economic assets, protecting our officers on the Frontline, and ensuring that legitimate traders thrive safely.”

Echoing this stance, the Beninese Customs Area Controller for Igolo-Idiroko, Col. Kounozo, alongside Police Commissioner Moussa, welcomed the renewed cooperation. They noted that multi-agency synergy between customs and other law enforcement agencies is vital for sustainable border stability and economic growth.
