Seme Customs Goes Hard On Drug Traffickers, Hands Over N1. 482b Drugs

The Nigeria Customs Service, Seme Customs Command has come very hard on illicit drugs Traffickers and illegitimate peddlers of medicaments with N1. 485 billion worth of these items Seized.

Comptroller Bello Mohammed Jibo, the Command’s Area Controller who made this known in a brief Showcase, handed over the Seizures of drugs and medicaments to Officers of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and National Agency For And Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), disclosed that the synergy with these sister Agencies is in line with Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), with the approval of the Comptroller General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd.).

The items handed over are in line with the Command’s continuous quest to look out for the well-being of Nigerians, the items as was recorded are: 100 Cartons of gabadol/ Tramadol 120mg, 2.8kg and 306 parcels of cannabis sativa, 132 packets of tramadol capsules and 77 packets of tramadol.

Others are 86 pieces of Apetamin syrup, 302 pieces of dynewell syrup, 50 pieces of baba yellow syrup. 3 sachets of rufhymol, 32 bottles of cough syrup.
Some other items listed are: 99 cartons of fearless energy drink and 139 cartons of soft drinks (expired), marked to be destroyed.

The Bello Mohammed Jibo led Command also tightened its grip on curbing Smuggling activities in the border Area, with petroleum products Smugglers hard hit as Jibo and his fine crop of officers intercepted 10, 865 jerry cans of PMS of 30ltrs each. This according to the henchman, is equivalent to 325,950 litres, about 10 tanker loads of 330000 each. The Seizures according to our source, has a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N65,614, 560.00 only for the period January till date.

In furtherance to the Command’s hard stance on Smuggling, the Seme Customs also recorded another huge intervention of 1,600 Jerry cans of petroleum products 30 litres each. The arrest, Jibo revealed was made on 7, June 2022 along Seme- Badary waterways. This he said, crowned the continuous surveillance of the Creeks and beaches by the vigilant officers and men of the border Command.
