The AIG Zone ll, Alh. Mohammed Ari Ali has stated that the peace and serenity being enjoyed in Apapa is a function of Community Policing. The Police AIG said this at a reception held for him during visit to the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders Nagaff, Head Quarters, in Apapa yesterday.

Speaking at the welcome home ceremony, Ali said that Community Policing has come to stay as  it ensures that security is everyone’s business. Underlining the importance of collaboration and cooperation to strengthen bonds and equally make room for understanding.

The AIG commended Nagaff for their insistence on dialogue most times, rather than confrontation. “As the then DPO and Area Commander Area ‘B’ I enjoyed the maximum cooperation from Dr Aniebonam and the entire Nagaff members, that Collaborative attitude is what has blossomed to friendship over the years and that is what we call Community policing. It has become a Sine qua non to enthroning peace in every community and that’s why the Port Area is at peace today,” Ali said.

On the complaint of arbitrary stopping and interception of containers already cleared from the ports by the police. Ali said that the Police cannot be seen to be usurping the role of Customs in clearing process by diverting already cleared containers to their stations, except where there’s intelligence report to suggest foul play, the police should stay clear by not obstructing trade facilitation. He however added that the Police cannot be wished away when doing their Legitimate duty but promised to channel these grievances to the appropriate quarters, the AIG Maritime and the Commissioner of police Maritime.

Founder of Nagaff and Spiritual Leader NNPP, Dr Boniface Aniebonam, welcoming the AIG to Nagaff said the police, especially Ali has been instrumental to the development and stability of Nagaff as the Divisional Police Officer Area ‘B’ Area Commander, DCP Operations Lagos, Commissioner of police Rivers State and Delta State and today, as the AIG Zone ll. Aniebonam said that they have kept close contact with the AIG, culminating in his visit and home coming today.

Earlier on, the National President of Nagaff, Chief Tochukwu Ezisi while welcoming the AIG said Ali’s visit is a testament of the harmonious relationship existing between Nagaff and the Nigerian Police. “Nagaff has enjoyed the unalloyed support of the Nigerian Police in her everyday operation nationwide… we will continue to uphold to maximum cooperation and collaboration with you, as we wish you a successful tenure.”

He promised that Nagaff will continue to proactively engage with the AIG towards achieving a more successful synergy.

Ali was later decorated with a broach to show his importance to the freight Forwarders at Nagaff.
