The New Nigerian Peoples’ Party, (NNPP) yesterday suspended Senator Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso for Anti party activities. The General Assembly of the party also ratified amongst other decisions taken by the BoT, the removal of the erstwhile Senator and former governor of Kano state as the National Leader of the NNPP.
At the general assembly held yesterday in Lagos, the leaders of the party explained that this tough decisions were taken wrest the party from those who are acting outside the construction of the party, taking unilateral decisions without consulting the BoT, even as it’s Presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso also allegedly engaged in ant -party activities, romancing the APC, the PDP and the Labour party.
The BoT also stated the NNPP Constitution has being amended severally without following due process and procedure by a clique of individuals within the system.
That the MoU document has been infringed upon and violated by these NWC members.
Which culminated in
about 8 states Chapters of the old NNPP being unceremoniously dissolved by the incompetent NWC.
The Board however validated the reinstatement of state executive Chairmen of the states affected.
“The letters of reinstatement of the suspended executive Chairmen of the various states issued by the Chairman BOT in accordance with the Board’s inherent power to call to order stands valid.”
The BoT ratified the resignation of the BoT Chairman Dr. Boniface Aniebonam; and the election of a new BoT Chairman, Dr. Chief Tope Aluko alongside Engr. Babayo Muhammed Abdulahi as new BOT Secretary, while High Chief Tony Obioha was elected as BoT spokesperson.
The BOT members also took strong exception to Buba Galadima’s parading of himself as BOT Secretary. This conduct, they said, is in violation of the composition of the members of the BOT in accordance with the NNPP constitution.
According to the BoT, the NWC was declared incompetent due to attrition and failure of the members to follow the constitution and due process in filling of the vacant positions, the NWC can no longer perform its role and is no longer relevant in the eyes of the law.
The appointment of new national officers headed by Dr. Agbo Major as acting National Chairman and Comrade Ogini Olaposi as acting National Secretary with about 18 others were affirmed by the BOT.
On the removal of Kwakwanso as the National Leader, they explained that “constitutionally, the nomenclature of the national leader is not in existence for a failed Presidential candidate, so the board moved that Engr. Rabiu Kwankwaso should no more be referenced as National Leader. Ditto state leader.”
They described the purported suspension of the Founder as a flagrant gross violation of the NNPP constitution such that it is tantamount to recklessness and irresponsibility on the part of the incompetent NWC.
They affirmed that NNPP’s Abuja office remains plot 511, Herbert Marcaulay Way, Suite A1 to A3, Willian’s Plaza, Zone 4, Wuse, Abuja.
BOT decided that material evidence in the public domain affirmed that Senator Kwankwaso was involved in anti-party activities in various meetings, suggest political discussions with Mr. President, Atiku and Obi without authorization from the board, has earned him 6 months suspension pending the outcome of investigation by the Disciplinary Committee.
The BOT insisted that the avoidable violation of MOU between NNPP on the one part and Kwankwasia, TNM and NAGAFF on the other have no other choice than to withdraw from the partnership. “It is therefore to state clearly that the MOU have been rendered invalid.”
