The founder of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders( NAGAFF), and the spiritual head of the New Nigerian People’s Party(NNPP), Dr Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam has declared that the NNPP, with its people oriented ideology, well cut out programs for the growth and development of the nation and the maritime industry in particular ,remains the best choice for Nigeria and ultimately the party to beat , come 2023 election.
Dr Aniebonam started this at a Press briefing on the 23rd Anniversary Celebration of the largest freight forwarding association in Nigeria, held at the association’s headquarters in Apapa yesterday,.
The NAGAFF founder noted that it has taken the NNPP 20 years to come to limelight stressing that just as NAGAFF, came as a liberation force in the freight forwarding industry, so also the NNPP, has come to liberate the nation from systemic failure.
According to him “When there is system failure, tactics takes over”. He noted that what Nigerians need at this point in time is not party , but personality and integrity.
His words,” The new order now is not about party, but about personality, about the integrity in them” he said
He added that NNPP does not indulge in petty politics, nor engage in controversy , but is more focused on how to return Nigeria to her former glory.
” You will not see NNPP in any controversy.I always advise that they should be fair and nice to all people. To me, what is important is a new Nigeria.
Nigerians must now make choice and stop blackmailing people, because doing that is self destruction. If you have anything against anybody go to the appropriate quarters to settle that, rather than indulging in blackmail” he said.
The NNPP spiritual leader asserted that come 2023, the best candidate will emerge.
On the 23rd Anniversary celebration. of NAGAFF, Dr Aniebonam informed that gubernatorial candidates of four political parties are expected to grace the occasion.
” we have given opportunity to other parties to come and tell us (maritime stakeholders) what they have in stock for the Industry” he said.
The gubernatorial candidates expected are, PDP guber candidate for Lagos State, APC candidate for Lagos State , Labour party candidate and NNPP candidate for Lagos State.
Dr Aniebonam noted that stakeholders are not getting satisfaction with the way things are done as far as port operation is concerned. He noted that the road to Apapa port should be expanded to at least 8 lanes , to allow free flow of traffic and cargo evacuation.
He also noted that the port system is not working , stressing that the port needs someone who understands the maritime landscape and its dynamics.
” The port system is not working.if we have a Lagos State governor, who understands the problems and challenges
in the industry, that governor would add value to the industry and the stakeholders” he said
He added,” A governor that is grounded in the maritime sector will not allow the impunity that is being done on the port corridors today, where people stop trucks on the road and collect illegal tolls”.
Dr Aniebonam stated that the port is very strategic ,security wise and has the capacity to generate employment for Nigerians, adding that there is need to reposition the port for greater efficiency and productivity
He noted that the NNPP is an offshoot of the industry , and therefore understands the port very well, adding that an NN PP government, would turn the industry around.
According to him,” When you get the port right, you get the economy right”.
The NNPP spiritual leader affirmed that what the NNPP would do differently is that,” We will take bold decisions”

Dr Aniebonam who gave a brief history of the evolution of NAGAFF express his gratitude to the publisher of MMSPlus , Mr Kingsley Anaroke for stand g with the association during its formative years. He also expressed his appreciation to all stakeholders, including Mr Sesan , whom he said was the tonic that galvanized him into ensuring that NAGAFF stood the test of time.
