NLC Strike: MWUN Expresses Satisfaction Over Cooperation

With the two-day warning strike called by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) over, the President -General, Maritime Workers’Union Of Nigeria, Comrade (Prince) Dr. Adewale Adeyanju, has expressed satisfaction with various Agencies of Government, the leadership of the four branches of MWUN in the Maritime industry , the terminal operators in all the nation’s seaports, Jetties, oil & gas, critical Stakeholders like;
NPA, NIMASA, STOAN, The Nigerian Shippers’ Council,Police,DSS and Other security agencies for their immense cooperation in the two-day warning strike as declared by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) over the removal of fuel subsidy, which has meted untold hardship on Nigerian Workers and the citizenry.
In a press statement released in Lagos this morning by the Union’s Head Media, Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna.
Comrade Adeyanju, who doubles as the Deputy President of the NLC expressed his satisfaction over the total compliance of the two -day warning strike in the maritime sector.
In his words,
“The Maritime Workers Union is indeed satisfied over the two-day exercise which has equally sent a very strong signal to the government over the consistent suffering of Nigerian Workers and the impoverished masses over the subsidy removal since June, 2023.
Today, the 7th of September, work commences in all the terminals across all the nation’s seaports, Jetties and oil & gas platforms and all government Agencies earlier mentioned, believing same that the federal government will see reason towards addressing all the demands of the Organised Labour to cushion the harsh effect of the subsidy removal,” Adeyanju stated.
Adding that, he sincerely appreciates all Captains and Employers of labour in the Maritime sector for their conduct and cooperation during the two day warning exercise .
