Messages of goodwill have continued to trail Chairmen of respective Akwa Ibom local government councils following their inauguration into offices last Monday by Governor Udom Emmanuel.
National Coordinator of NGO, 1001+ Voices Initiative for Peoples Empowerment, Obong Ide Owodiong-Idemeko, has added his wise counsel to the list of well wishers extending their support to the fresh administrations taking off at the third tier of the nation’s governing structure.
In his congratulatory message to the chairperson of Ibesikpo Asutan Council, Mrs. Akon Michael, the respected activist and advocate for good governance has charged the new council boss ” to ensure to be above board in duty”.
Part of the statement read: ” as you assume office in your capacity as the new helms person of Ibesikpo Asutan council, I encourage you to ensure to be above board in duty. “
While urging the new council boss to ensure that the council under her watch receives a major boost in the stride of providing directional governance, Owodiong- Idemeko has called on Mrs. Michael to invent a culture of service during her tenure with a view and strong commitment to meeting the vast needs of the people.
Stressing in the message that the Ibesikpo Asutan Council head should use the auspicious opportunity and maximize on the developmental strides of the council area, the erstwhile aspirant for the Akwa Ibom North East (Uyo) senatorial district has called on Mrs. Michael to strive hard on the delivery of services, the promotion and expansion of the economy and the constant engagement of people through positive inclusion and consultation.
Noting in the message that the fiercest challenge of democracy is the recurrent absence of transparency and accountability in governance, Obong Owodiong-Idemeko, has urged the Council Chairperson to be “consistent, transparent, accountable and committed in the discharge of holistic and life changing services as would positively and constantly impact the people of Ibesikpo Asutan local government for all times.”
