Customs: Western Marine Hands Over 10, 551 Loaves Of Cannabis Sativa To NDLEA

The Nigeria Customs Service, Western Marine Command, has today handed over 120 Sacks containing 10,551 Loaves of Cannabis Sativa to the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA at Ibafon, Apapa, Lagos.

Speaking at the event, the WMC Area Controller, Compt. O.A Salefu disclosed that this was in line with upholding the spirit the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Nigeria Customs Service and Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA signed on the April 4, 2023 to ensure synergy and collaboration in tackling illicit trafficking in hard drugs along Nigeria’s entry and exit points. Hence, the handing over of 120 sacks of Cannabis Sativa with a total value of N704,518,000.00 to the NDLEA for further Agency action.

He added that the 120 Sacks being handed over to the NDLEA today, we’re seized in 3 different operations at Jegemo Island, opposite Iworo Ajido Waterfront and Ashipa Beach, along Seme border on the November 29, 2023, December 2, 2023 and January 19,2024.

The Western Marine Command’s henchman also praised his officers and men for their hard work, dedication and bravery to puncture the reign of Smugglers of hard drugs. ” The seizure is also a product of our Command’s wide network of intelligence, the Western Marine Command remains steadfast in it’s commitment to safeguard the nation’s economic interest by working with sister Agencies”. He called on all Nigerians to desist from illicit and illegal cross border trade practices, as it’s bad for the general economic and health welfare of Nigeria and Nigerians.
