The Ogun 1 Customs Area Command has decorated newly promoted officers and men who scaled through the recently conducted promotion examination by the NCS.
Speaking at the decoration exercise yesterday at Idiroko, Ogun State. Comptroller Mohammed Salisu Shuaibu stated that the essence this honour was
not only to celebrate these well-deserved
promotions but also to acknowledge the hard work, commitment, and resilience of
these officers who have consistently upheld the values and objectives of the Nigeria
Customs Service.
” I want to congratulates our newly promoted officers and men. Your promotion
is a recognition of your professionalism, dedication, and outstanding performance.
It is also a reflection of the Service’s confidence in your ability to take on greater
responsibilities and deliver even more in your respective roles. Promotions are not
handed out lightly, they are earned. The rigorous selection process ensures that only
those who meet the highest standards of competence, integrity, and commitment are
chosen. You have proven yourselves worthy of this honour, and I urge you to see this
promotion as a call to even greater service to the nation.”
He further advised, them to always be of good and exemplary behaviour, worthy of emulation.
“As you wear your new ranks today, remember that every stripe, badge, and
insignia signify responsibility and leadership. It is not just a symbol of authority but
also a call to duty to serve Nigeria with integrity, courage, and selflessness. The
expectations of the Service, the nation, and the public are now even higher. You are
not just representatives of the Nigeria Customs Service; you are role models for your
colleagues, subordinates, and the communities we serve. Let your conduct always
reflect the core values of the Service: integrity, diligence, and patriotism.
Permit me to offer you three important charges as you assume your new roles:
a.Be Exemplary Leaders. Leadership is not about ranks alone; it is
about influence, guidance, and the ability to inspire others to excel. Lead by
example and be a source of motivation to your colleagues.
b. Remain Dedicated to Our Mandate. The core mandates of the
Nigeria Customs Service—revenue generation, anti-smuggling operations,
and trade facilitation—are critical to the economic growth and security of our
nation. Let these mandates guide your every action as you contribute to the
realization of our goals.
c. Embrace Continuous Learning. Promotion comes with new
challenges, and staying ahead requires continuous learning and adaptability.
Equip yourselves with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to excel in
your new roles.”
Concluding, Shuaibu thanked the CGC and all those who have contributed immensely to the progress in Ogun 1 Customs Command, he also reminded those who were not promoted this time to continue to be diligent, work hard and wait for their time.
“Let me take this opportunity to express my profound gratitude to the
Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, and the entire
management of the Nigeria Customs Service for their commitment to staff welfare
and career progression. Their visionary leadership continues to inspire us and
provide the enabling environment for officers and men to thrive. I also appreciate
the sacrifices of every officer and man of the Ogun I Area Command. Your collective
efforts and teamwork have contributed to the successes we have achieved as a
Command. To those who were not promoted this time, do not be discouraged.
Promotion comes from God, continue to work hard, remain committed, and your
time will surely come.”
