Man Runs Away After Surviving Assassination Attempt Over Chieftaincy Title Dispute

A man identified as Ogunyemi Isiaka Ola has run away after a recent chieftaincy title dispute that nearly claim his life.
Sources said Ogunyemi Isiaka Ola was honoured by his father who passed down the title of “Balogun of Fowawo”, respected title in their community, known as Isofin Fowawo, in Ogun State, South –West Nigeria.
Sources said the title later became a source of contention within his family.
One man identified as Ogunyemi Rasheed, who is an uncle to Isiaka Ola believed that the title should have been given to him.
His resentment later turned into hostility, poisoning family relationships and creating tension within the community.
The dispute, sources said started as verbal attacks and accusations from Rasheed who was spreading rumors that Isiaka Ola has been cursed, hence unfit for the title.
Although Isiaka Ola tried to ignore his uncle’s actions, trusting in the wisdom of the king of the community, Oba Rasaki Jimoh Famuyiwa, and the Baale, Ogunyemi Kabiru, to maintain peace; uncle Rasheed jealousy eventually escalated into violence.
According to sources, Rasheed allegedly orchestrated an attack against Ola on April 28, 2023, where Isiaka Ola was ambushed by Rasheed together with other boys.
Sources said Isiaka Ola was brutally beaten, and left with severe injuries, including a head wound that was stitched.
Sources said he reported the assault to the relevant authorities but it was dismissed and viewed as a ‘family matter.
Sources said the matter degenerated on June 15, 2023, when Rasheed allegedly sent assassins to kill Ola but he narrowly escaped.
It was gathered that Isiaka Ola later ran away from the community with his wife and children shortly after his coronation in September, 2024, notwithstanding, he was attacked again.
The “Balogun of Fowawo” coronation took place in September, 2024, but as of press time Isiaka Ola is nowhere to be found till date.
